(Con EZ Sip Fiberbed & Comp Bag in Queen SIze is Manufacturer’s defective item)
1/30/2017
Purchased this for my Queen bed and was really happy when I heard all the promises stated during the live televised Today’s Special multi Presentations.
Problem is this item was supposed to be manufactured with preshrunk cotton so it does not shrink, especially since it was made to have the mattress topper easily zip on and off of the mattress bed skirt, so it could be laundered, and again easily zipped back on to the mattress bed skirt.
They should have used preshrunk cotton, so the cotton does not shrink, but they did not and the item shrunk and could not be zippered back on to mattress bed skirt after it was washed and dryed.
I washed the bottom mattress with skirt and top zippered mattress cover in separate Commercial Jumbo Washers and Dryers so there would be plenty room for everything to wash and dry with no heat, but to air dry.
I paid $8,00 for 2 jumbo washers in cold water with no washer agitator, and used the jumbo dryers on air fluff, which is no heat.
When I took it home to my dismay I could not zip the mattress topper back on because it shrunk.
This item was supposed to be pre shrunk by the manufacturer.
I wasted my time,$8.00 in washing and drying the item, and the money spent to purchase it, wait for the in home delivery by UPS, only to have to return it back to HSN as defective, but I refused to pay the HSN return UPS prepaid label shipping, since this item was manufactured to be be placed in a no agitator washer and dryer (which by the way HSN never mentioned no agitator to be used in the washer on any of their HSN televised Today’s Special Presentations.
I was truly shocked that the zippered topper shrunk so much it was impossible to zipper it back on to the mattress skirt.
I was promised a full refund with no return charges taken out from my full refund by the HSN Customer Service Representative I spoke with of what I originally paid to be posted back to my Visa Card, since the item evidenytly was sold to me but is defective since it shrunk when it was not supposed to shrink.

If…you are talking about, Concierge Collection SuperLoft™ EZ Zip Fiberbed with StoreSmart Compression Bag 503-241…mine was flawless. I washed both pieces upon arrival and there was zero shrinkage. Lay’n on it now and could not be happier with the purchase….Five Stars.

I am glad your mattress zipper pad and zipper topper was flawless, and I wish I too received a flawless item to also enjoy.
I wish everyone continued luck, and may all these Concierge EZ Zip items continue to be flawless after being laundered and zipped opened and zipped closed, many times.
A friend who is a Professional Seamstress by trade for 30 years was also gifted this item and stopped by to chat, and we began discussing our Concierge EZ Zip Mattress skirt and mattress EZ Zip Topper.
I also informed her that the zipper on my Concierge EZ Zip item was difficult to re-zip, and before I removed it to wash it I tried to zip it closed a bit to test the zipper, and it would not zip closed easily at all, so in addition to another defect in manufacturing I was not attaching the upper EZ zip mattress top pad to the mattress skirt with the zipper, but would leave both unzipped and placed inside their protective plastic bags, and into the card board box to ship the defective item back to HSN for a full refund.
She further stated this type of heavy use item which is zipped on and off to wash and dry, repeatedly as needed should have been manufactured with a commercial heavy duty zipper to last the test of time, and many mass produced imported overseas items tend to have cheaply made materials used which are known not to with stand the test of time, as opposed to purchasing items made in the USA which usually tend to use higher quality materials in their manufacturing processes.
I also agree with her professional seamstress advisements.
Even though her item was gifted to her, she decided to gift it to someone else because she stated the overseas cheap zipper and thread used on all the EZ zippers was the main reason she decided to gift hers, rather than to professionally invest her time and more money to remove with a professional implement the cheap overseas mass produced import zippers on both items, then need to also purchase a commercial heavy duty made in the USA zipper, and professional heavy duty made in the USA thread, to professionally sew the Commercial zipper back on to both parts of the Concierge EZ Zip mattress pad, and mattress topper.
As for the cotton not being preshrunk, she also agreed with me that washing this item using jumbo commercial washers without agitators, and jumbo commercial dryers using the air fluff with no heat, option should not have shrunk this cotton item. (BTW not using a washer with an agitator was never mentioned when this item was presented and televised as a Today’s Special item).
Had the cotton been manufactured as preshrunk cotton to withstand being laundered time and again as needed, either using the manufacturer’s care instructions, or even using cold water with no agitator wash, with fluff dryer no heat option as I used, should not have caused the cotton to shrink on the EZ zip mattress topper, so she also professionally agreed the shrinkage was due to the manufacturer not using preshrunk cotton.
“She also stated it is not uncommon to find defective items in all manufacturing items and processes used, since some are correctly produced and present without defects, and some are not correctly produced, especially since nothing is written as guaranteed against defects, with a lifetime guarantee/warranty.” (Same as hand picking apples, and finding defects on the apple tree, or in the bag purchased from the store).
I tend to agree with all of her professional advisements about various defects and materials used in the manufacturing of this mass produced overseas item, especially since she has 30 years of professional working expertise as a professional seamstress by trade, in addition to full professional knowledge about various fibers, contents, reactions and defects, Manufacturer & Consumer usage and care instructions, and various manufacturing processes enacted.
