Help & Advice! This hair tool left me with a mohawk!
I’ve blown and styled my hair with a round brush for years so I know what I’m doing.
My hair is straight and below shoulder length.
My 1st pass using Joy’s Hairdryer with the included round brush left me with this:
Here’s the brush after I had to cut it out:
The barrel is copper color but see how my hair is wrapped around most of the barrel.
I poured a bottle of conditioner on hoping to loosen the tangled mess so I could separate the strands. After an hour not one strand or clump came loose. I started to snip what I thought was enough to loosen the hold but still couldn’t get the brush out. I had no choice but to cut it out completely. If I could’ve seen the back of my head better I would’ve just snipped out all the teeth of the brush!
I’m on the West Coast and CS is closed til 8am.
Any advice? :smileymad::smileymad::smileymad: :smileysad:

Oh my Dog Gise so sorry!!!!!
My first thought is hats…. if you don’t already have good winter hats get some- get someting that you love that fits and is cozy and feels great on your beautiful head.
Next thought is Andrew Lessman Hair and Nail or is it Hair, Skin and Nails formula
Next thought boycott Joy for life
Next thought let me pour you something to drink and feed you Tiramisu until your hair grows.
Next thought, aside from a hat, a great silk scarf and fantastic earrings can also help.
Big hug-

OMG, gise!!!! I can’t believe it!!!! I’m so, so sorry this has happened… more than sorry… I’m downright shocked!!!! I don’t know how to advise you except a law suit? If that happened to my hair, I’d be screaming to high heaven!!! {{{hugs hugs hugs}}}
Edited to Add… You’ll have to go to a stylist to see what, if anything, can be done. Also, you may want to check-out purchasing a wig. Joy should pick-up the tab for all this as well.

Gise, you poor thing. Ugh!
Well, join the club for those those of us, who won’t buy products from Joy, as it’s not so Joyful.
Not sure where you are but many stores/drug stores are open until midnight or later.
Maybe see if you can get some inexpensive hair extensions, then go back home and take Mooncat’s advice about the Wine!

OMG gise, I’m so sorry this happened to you. The only suggestion I have is to get an appointment at a salon that does custom extensions. which will be expensive. but will look natural while it’s growing out. The only other thing I can think of is either loosely pulling the top and sides back into a barrette or setting your hair with electric rollers which will make your hair look layered. I have very long hair and if that happened to me you would hear me yelling in California. I hope you are having a large glass of wine.

Cristie has a messy top bun hair piece?!
-
when all else fails…
-
That happened to me once a few years ago and I ended up pulling my hair up from the sides to hide it until it grew out. Nothing is worse than losing hair. Sorry this happened to you.

I am so sorry I didn’t get to talk to u last night when this happened!! I am so angry at Joy and HSN. :smileymad: This is not your fault, and they should pay for u to get your hair professionally fixed and maintained until it grows out. Please contact Joy’s company in addition to an HSN Supervisor – good job taking photos as proof.
“Several parties in the chain of distribution of a product may be liable for damages in a product liability lawsuit. In some cases, retail liability may apply to a case. Even though a retailer did not manufacture or distribute the product, it can be liable for injuries or losses arising from a defective product. Product liability laws allow consumers to recover damages from a number of parties when injured by the use of a defective product. In most cases, the manufacturer of a product is primarily liable for damages arising out of a defective product. The consumer may not even have to prove negligence, only that the product was defective, the consumer used it appropriately, and the product caused the person’s injuries. But liability for the defective product may not end with the manufacturer.” – The Miley Legal Group
Remember my recent hair fiasco? Although not as severe, I have a chunk missing too, but it’s right by my face, like another set of bangs. I found a good stylist to blend it in as much as possible, but I continue to wear my hair up in a bun and bobby pin the short pieces cuz they are too short to reach the bun. Since the chunk u are missing is on top, u may have an easier time concealing it in a bun. I am also wearing hats and bandanas. I just remind myself that this is not permanent, that I am not in the public eye, and that patience is a virtue.
Plz give us an update after u have filed your complaints. I wish u the best of luck. U are still beautiful.

How awful Gise! I’m so sorry to hear about that. It sounds like you’re not alone. I browsed through some of the reviews, and found a couple that also mentioned problems with the brush. There’s lots of reviews, so I’m sure there’s probably more than just the 3 of you. There also might be others who haven’t yet left reviews.
From 12/11/16:
“The first time I used product I used the round brush to try to get body with the hair dryer. As soon as I used round brush my hair locked into it and wouldn’t budge. I tried 20 min to loosen hair to no avail. My arms were sore. My scalp was sore and burned. I had to cut my hair loose. I lost 8 to 10 ” of hair. I also had bald spots where hair actually ripped out of scalp. I now feel prickly hair trying to come back in bald spots.I hope it grows back completely and isn’t damageded by trauma to scalp. Was so surprised this could happen. Please don’t use round brush unless u have very short hair. I wouldn’t want anyone to experience this.May take 2 years or more to grow back to any length. Hoping it grows in right. I am so embarrassed to go anywhere and cover my hair with scarf or headband.”
From 12/7/16:
“drys good and fastthe on off when putting down needS a little getting used to the round brush got tangled in my hair few time so use my old one nice colours”

OMG gise, I think my eyes popped out of my head when I saw your pictures. I have long hair and I’m sitting here trying to figure out what I would do. I can’t even begin to tell you what junk I think Joy puts out but this really tops them all. Keep us posted with your new styles. You look very attractive so that’s certainly a big help. Oh, I’m still twitching here after seeing this!
-
How horrible for you and nothing will make it right!!! Growing out your hair doesn’t happen overnight so I feel your pain. I hope you can find a solution that keeps you from having to go short.

I am so sorry this happened to you . This is terrible !
GOODNESS! Is this

Gise you are on my mind
let us know how it went today and how you are doing

I would contact a personal injury lawyer, most will give you a free consultation, BEFORE a hairdresser does anything to your hair so he/she can see the actual damage that was done. Good luck, and I’m sorry this happened to you.
