Can Neglected Skin be Brought Back to Great Condition
A loved one of mine is having problems. When she was young, she was very attractive and had boys (and men) falling all over her. She was known for her body. Long story short, the last twenty years have taken a toll on her. She quit wearing makeup, quit moisturizing, quit caring what she looked like. Now she sees what her neglect has done and she is unhappy. Can our beauty products return her to her former glory? She is 62 but looks much older. She still has the body (grrrr) and hair, but her skin is in terrible shape. Darn, I hope nobody I know sees this because they will know exactly who I am talking about. I’d love to see the person she once was again. What product is best for hard cases like hers?

I am 68 and my skin just changed as I aged and I have to really be consistant in applying products morning and night. And being patient…it took about 6 months to notice changes…skin is not dull anymore and wrinkles reduced some. What really helped me the most in getting started was exfoliation…I did not realize my skin needed refreshing and mild exfoilation helped and also allowed other treatments to work better. I had to be careful in exfoliation not to do it every day but build up to using it often. Patience and consistency in treating skin…

There is a lot that can be done. If she is or was a smoker there is limited progress that can be made. If it is sun damage you can do a bit more with that. I’d start with a good cleansing and exfoliation, intense skin lubrication sessions with an oil product and then eventually a regime of serums. Does she walk or get aerobic exercise? If not, she might consider that for a sluggish complexion.

I’d suggest that her first step might be even once at the dermatologist’s office if she’s willing to spend the money. That would give her the best chance to put together the most effective program for her particular skin problems.
I believe my skin has improved immensely (though it wasn’t bad to begin with) in the past year or so by using this regimen:
Morning: Elysee’s red and blue serums (with sometimes the off-white Facial Resurrection serum). While the blue and red are my core, I got the big jar of the pink liposomal cream, which Linda Marshall said is very firming. You have to use the Elysee daily for I’d say six months until you’ll really see an improvement. I got these serums a few years ago and didn’t use them every day and then stopped using them. When will Elysee’s next Today’s Special be? Linda said you can use the off-white serum overnight.
Evening: Peter Thomas Roth night retinol with his Unwrinkle Night.cream. I got his TSV recently. His retinol is totally non-irritating and really has really improved my skin in terms of its color and tone. It’s hard to explain, but I see a difference.
As everyone knows, it’s important to exfoliate. I just use a manual facial brush that’s big. It has a side with soft, long bristles and the other side has rubber nubbins that are very small for stronger exfoliation. You don’t have to go out and get the Clarisonic if you don’t want to, in my opinion. The best cleanser is SSC’s glycolic cleanser.
She should also start using sunscreen daily. I saw a recent article that said this can not only prevent but at least to some degree reverse sun damage.

She should use an SPF every day. If not, sun exposure will negate any improvements from other skin care products.

Might need to check into her diet as welll Eat green salads!! When I was on the take shape for life it improved my skin. If she’s a big drinker, that will affect the skin. She’s 62 so some laser type treatments might be what she needs or thermoge. I like A asam and signature club. However, I have splurged big time on eye care- Premier supreme skin minerals eye care. I found mine on Amazon for half the price as what it sells for on their own website Great stuff. I was given free samples while in Lahaina Hawaii and couldn’t believe how it made my eyes look better.
Now for body skincare, scrubs!! Every shower use a scrub. Then apply a body cream . I’ve bought so many different creams and just so long as it’s a thick creme, it’ll work. Even cetaphil is great and not expensive.

I don’t know if this will help but years ago when my Mom was on a chemotherapy type drug her skin, especially on her face had become so dried out that it was just in terrible shape. Her Oncologist said there was nothing that could be done that it was a side effect of the drug and everyone goes through it, nothing helps. Well, I ordered some of the Perlier black rice products and within less than a week her skin on her face was back to normal. Of course after seeing what it did for my Mom, I got some for myself, but I did not like it. My Mom was in her 90’s, if it helped her it might be worth a try for your friend. We are all different and respond to treatments differently, I prefer Dr. Graff’s products for myself.:smileyhappy:
