Mangano readers coatings are all peeling
I bought the first set of readers JM came out with, the set without the sunglasses. I hate the hideous thin rectangular style, but the price was right and I thought they would be okay for using around the house.
After a few months, all the coatings on all the glasses and ear pieces are peeling off everywhere. Not a good look.
And now Joy has the exact same style of glasses–some of the colors are slightly different, with an added pair of reader sunglasses. Seems she does this quite often: Changes the colors and styles of her luggage and purses, the sets of hangers with different extras so none of the negative reviews stay up for long because HSN no longer carries the first versions which are falling apart.
I also wonder how in the world there is such a great range in the reviews, they often start of with lots of one and two stars and many logical legitimate complaints, and suddenly the reviews switch to all raves. I have seen this happen over and over.
Ms. Mangano has brought out some terrific products, but too many of her things are cheaply made, never do what they are advertised to do—for instance: how many of us can pack our suitcases from her with the same amount of clothes she packs them with on the air?
And the huggable hangers were great, but the original ones were enormously superior to the ones produced now. She used to vigorously twist the hangers to show how sturdy they are; she has not done that in years. And I have had many of them snap into pieces, had the metal hangers come off, and the “extras” that are often added on are all junk.
Someone needs to rein her in and have her produce fewer and better products instead of flooding the market with inferior “stuff”.

I have her readers and the bifocal sunglasses. I dont have a problem with them and for the price if I did it would be well worth it just buy another set.

I have to also comment that Joy’s readers do peel. I am disappointed and she needs to spend more time improving the quality of her products and slow down on the release of the “next big thing”!
My steamer was also defective. Both of these things have caused me to not order anymore.

Very interesting observations, but not surprising. I fortunately have her hangars from years ago when the quality was better and I have many and only a couple have broken…but would not buy them now, might as well buy the cheap ones in all the stores. I was really tempted by her towels (lighter, most absorbent and faster drying) until I saw the negative comments about how they piled and the weave was so loose that they pulled and looked terrible very quickly….not a deal at any price. I am amazed that she keeps bringing in new configurations of luggage…the today’s special for $159, is basically 1 roller bag with a bunch of junk pieces that you have to carry or pack and that most generally do not need and will probably not use. What a sales person. I do not even care for the look of them. The idea of a matched set is rather passe…most people use 1 size most of the time and it will wear out and then you have all the pieces you never use! I now only buy the 1 size I use, usually at Home Goods or such.
I bought her steamer years ago and found that using regular water the metal heat element on the bottom rusted after only using it a few times….I was stunned, did not even see how that was possible unless the metal was so thin and porous.
But I have seen the quality issue pop up with all their major vendors…I think it is hard because they have to keep changing things to attract attention over time. A lot of complaints on the other board is that they show the same stuff over and over and over again…which is true. I have been buying off TV for many years but the old saying is still true…buyer beware. And when you buy something you need to be sure to use it right away to test…I do not hesitate to take advantage of the return policies.

You are soooooo right about the peeling. I have had problems also with them breaking at the hinges. Now I see where she is trying to sell women’s glasses, and say that they are men’s.Give me a break [-x =; [-(
