GRANDSON WANTS GAMING LAPTOP
But do I need to spend that much money? Ordered him the HP Touch LED Intel Quad-core, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD. Will that work to download and play games from STEAM? Thx for any knowledgeable advice as to whether this laptop will be sufficient. Thanks.

Like dynac said, most laptops are not suitable for true gaming, and it depends on what type of games he intends to play. But you need to look beyond processors. For most laptops, the processor not only does the “work”, it also performs graphics duties as well. Just because the laptop is touted as having “Nvidia Graphics (so-and-so number)” doesn’t mean it has a graphics card–it most likely means that’s what is built in to the motherboard or processor. True gaming laptops have a “discreet”–or separate–graphics card for high graphics performance. That’s why they are usually much heavier and bulkier–and expensive.
If you find a laptop you’re interested in, do an online search for performance reviews. Most will tell how well it would work for gaming, if at all. Good luck!

Steam offers all kinds of games from low graphic use to very intensive graphic use..My son bought a desktop due to gaming because most laptops are not able to handle a lot of the games..He plays on Steam daily.A decent gaming laptop will cost from $1500 and up to have good speed and graphics..
The GPU and CPU are the most important..A simple card game will play on most any computer but somethig such as Grand Theft Auto 5 would need at least a mid range Graphics card and a CPU that will run at 3.2 gHz or better.
HSN does offer some gamilng laptops so I would check that section.

One of the most important things you need to know to answer your question is what processor does it have? If you give me the HSN number I will look it up and give you a honest opinion. :manhappy:
