Boost Hot Spot
Does anyone own a Boost Hot Spot? I am thinking about purchasing one for long trips in the car and thought this would be a great idea in order to listen to music without ad interruptions.Would also come in handy during power outages. However, I am hearing that their customer service may not exist.

Hi, Oodiebom,
While the sales pitches make these things sound like the saving grade of all wireless problems, I’d suggest you really look into how they work and the entire cost. These are just as dependent on cellular signals as phones. This particular model connects to Sprint’s network. Plus, 5 gigs of data isn’t all that much, so when you use it up, you’ll have to buy more on one of Boost’s “data plans.”
The thing is, if you’re looking for a hotspot device, most smart phones can operate as hotspots. You’re already paying for data on your phone plan, so you’re really not out anything (unless you really go crazy with connecting devices and go over your data limit–but even then, I bet increasing your data on your phone plan would be cheaper than any of Boost’s plans!)
