I Hate the Scroll Feature on Dell Inspiron
I ordered a Dell Inspiron 17.3″ HD LED AMD A8 Quad-Core back when they were on sale. I needed to upgrade, so I bought this laptop.
I really hate the scroll feature. Well, there really isn’t a scroll feature. Unlike my other Dell, this one doesn’t scroll or maybe I just haven’t figured it out. It’s very annoying when you want to scroll down, and it won’t scroll. You literally have to use the down/up arrows, but they don’t scroll as easily as I would like.
Does anyone have this problem? I’m not tech savvy, so it could be something I’m doing incorrectly.
Thanks in advance.

?, thanks for the tip about using both index and middle fingers on the mouthpad. I did not know that. Everything else, I’ve tried. My other Dell had a scrolling feature on the right side of the mousepad. It was so easy.
I try to avoid the mouse mainly because of my carpal tunnel and tendonitis.
Thanks again for your replies.

There’s always more than one way to do something on a computer. Experiment to find out what works best for you. You’ve figured out one way, which isn’t working for you. Here’s some more to try, for scrolling on a web page. I use an HP, but I’m sure Dell is similar.
-With your right hand, put your cursor on the shaded part of the scroll bar on the right side of the web page. With your left hand, hold down the left click button of the touchpad. Slide your right finger up and down the touchpad to move the page up and down.
-With the cursor anywhere within the web page, put both your index and middle fingers on the touchpad, and slide your fingers up and down. If the web page is wider than the screen, this also works side to side.
-Use the up, down, left, and right arrow keys on the keyboard.
-To quickly return to the top of a web page, press the home key.
-To quickly go to the bottom of a web page, press the end key.
-Like ?, I prefer to use a mouse.
Refer to the manual for your laptop. If Dell didn’t install it, it should be available for download on their site.

Not sure about a scroll feature but why don’t you do what I do with laptops? Buy a Logitech or other good wireless mouse…Presto!!! You are ready to go!!! Much easier to use, play games, ect…. :manhappy:
