Cost of returning
Don’t they say try it you have nothing to lose. Got tree lights 39.00 tax 5.00 shipping 5.00 Returned, way to big for tree refund 25.00 and 5.00 spend cash. Then lost another customer I will take my shopping to amazon true free returns

Amazon is not free returns, btw, but I do agree that return fees can really add up. To the person who said that we need to think twice before buying something, maybe HSN should not do the hard sell on every product and have a disclosure statement adding that, yes, you can return anything but this is how much it will cost you to return it. As a matter of fact, I think there should be a law that all online purchases must fully disclose return fees. Not only is this a good business practice but it will definitely cause a person to fully consider the true cost of buying an item. I think HSN and all online shopping companies make a lot of money from charging set amounts for returns or, or worse yet, having “return on your own” shipping costs which can add up to significantly more. Also, when they know a consumer probably won’t return an item because it costs too much, (like purchasing a $20 mop but costing 5.95 to return it) and you multiply it by thousands of items “unreturned ” it adds a lot of money to their bottom line. I probably won’t stop being an HSN customer because overall I like the merchandise they offer, but I am being a lot more cautious about considering return fees.

That does seem like a bit much.If I am adding correctly you are saying you paid a total of $49 and only ended up with $30 back.Shipping is high but $19 seems to much for postage on lights.Maybe you could contact customer service or post the question on the Customer Service-Need Help forum.

So you bought an item you did not like and returned it. HSN deducted the cost of shiping the item to you (which you received back as Spendable Kash) and the cost to ship the item back using the return label. OK, where’s the problem?
Shipping costs money. If you do not pay for it, the costs would be passed along to everyone else. I, for one, refuse to underwrite other people’s shopping habits — especially those who purchase things without thinking through the purchase throughly beforehand.
HSN’s return policies are on the website as well as the invoice you received. They are not hidden away in a secret location. Going forward, it may be best to familiarize yourself with return policies before you may a spur-of-the-moment buying decision.
