Defective Wok Glass Cover – Be Careful
If my Ming Tsai’s Today’s Special Platinum Silver Wok Glass Cover had not been defective upon arrival & unsafe to continue to use, I would have highly recommended it, & hope other HSN Members also received their same Ming Tsai Today’s Special Wok Set Ensemble, without any dangerous defects at all.
I was so looking forward to trying more of Chef Ming Tsai’s Simply Ming Collections, especially his beautiful Diamond Platinum Ceramic Nonstick Healthy Wok Set, which was comprised of 1 gorgeous 12 inch Platinum Silver Wok, 1 glass cover with vent hole, 1 steamer basket, 1 skimmer utensil with holes. and recipe cards.
I unpacked it all, and wow, what a Simply Ming gorgeous Wok Ensemble Set.
Yesterday I tried it out for the first time, & began preparing my Chinese pepper steak recipe.
I read the use and care directions & followed them to the letter.
For many decades I’ve used carbon steel woks at home purchased in Asia, after personally seeing woks in use & sampling various types of Asian cuisine.
All went well with the Simply Ming Wok, until it came time to place the glass cover on the wok and let the pepper steak with beef broth simmer slowly, when I unexpectedly began hearing loud cracking popping pinging sounds, which really alarmed me.
I picked up the glass cover drained the condensation back into the wok, & intently listened when I suddenly realized the loud cracking, pinging, popping sounds were emanating not from the wok itself, but from the Chef Ming Tsai wok glass cover I held in one hand.
I have other glass cookware covers exactly like this Ming Tsai Wok glass cover with the vent hole, which never ever produced those alarming cracking popping pinging sounds.
In view of my vast cooking expertise of many decades, in addition to my related prep, and cookware knowledge, I knew this Ming Tsai glass wok cover was highly defective, & too dangerous for my continued consumer usage.
I stopped cooking, turned off the gas flame & immediately contacted HSN by phone &
reported the above defective dangerous wok glass cover consumer experience to the HSN Customer Service Representative.
I also asked she note my account with what I stated & also forward this entire dangerous defective Ming Tsai product consumer experience to the HSN Corporate Division, so the HSN Corporate Division could directly notify Chef Ming Tsai of this dangerous glass Wok cover defect in an expedient manner.
The HSN Customer Service Representative I spoke with also verified she noted my account & would immediately forward everything I stated to her, directly to the HSN Corporate Division, & I also asked Ming Tsai be alerted, & she also ensured me Corporate & Chef Ming Tsai would all be notified quickly.
I used the HSN EZ return label & this morning personally handed the defective Ming Tsai Wok Set Ensemble directly into the hands of my UPS carrier & waited while my he accepted the Ming Tsai Wok Ensemble Set defective return package from my hands, & scanned in the bar code from the HSN UPS EZ return label using his UPS hand held scanner device.
Now I await my full defective product refund from HSN, posted back to my Visa Card original method of payment, which I also included in the HSN card board box.
I also hope Chef Ming Tsai produces another HSN Today’s Special Wok Ensemble Set quickly.
I hope Chef Tsai also offers everything this wok ensemble set offered, including same size 12″ wok, but respectfully with a different wok configuration exactly like the Ming Tsai buffet pan offered in his previous HSN Today’s Special item # 510-318, which I can use on my gas stove & my Ming Tsai 1800 watt induction burner, as well as store more easily in my kitchen if he produces the next Wok ensemble in his other buffet casserole type cookware configuration.
I purchased, & highly recommend HSN #519-318 very highly, and thank both HSN & Chef Tsai for offering it:).
