Estimated tax way off!
I just ordered the origami kitchen cart with drawers and got an estimated tax as $5.00 .. Okay that is high but I went ahead but when I submitted my taxes went up almost to double that. What is wrong with your estimater? I would not have spent that. I have never had any online store that jacked up the taxes and applied them after you submitted the order like that. Never, except HSN. I cancelled the order and that makes me sad because as much as I love HSN and want to order from you, I feel the whole experience is cringe worthy and unpleasant.

You can just delete this whole entire post. I have been researching the taxes in Louisiana and although I do not fully understand it and it is not very explanatory to me I think it may be that since I went from paying NO Online sales tax to the highest in the country in just a few short months, as well as the adjustment from a previous purchase which was inaccurate that I may have overreacted although I still want to know if it is inaccurate. It may or may not be. Next time I will call in my order to make sure I get the right price or I will order and send it in for review. I do however feel that the summary preview and the submitted order should be the same and you should not get not a hidden cost. But I will deal with it next time I order.
Thank you for your replies. You can delete this if you want to.

The issue is likely occurring because you live in a state with multiple tax rates, ranging from 5% to 12% (depending on location). HSN’s system only estimates the tax based on your state, and it only can give an accurate number once the order is complete and the system knows where the item is shopping (I am basing this on how I have seen other ordering systems work).
Your best resolution is to do as they ask. Place your order and then dispute the amount so they can investigate. It is not as if HSN is keeping this money to buy themselves coffee and dougnuts on your dime; this goes directly to your state, and they are only following the law. If there is an error, just give them a chance to correct it rather than continuing to rant about the issue; it is not helpful at all.

, I’m sorry to see this. If you ever have any concerns with how much tax was charged on an order, just let us know and we can review it. It may take up to 3 days to correct but we’ll make sure its right. Please let me know if you replace your order and have concerns with the tax amount.
