Trekky won’t be here Friday night for Trivia but don’t worry!
Don’t want anyone to worry but I won’t be here Friday night.
But my Gal Pals Lizzie818, OldPixie, and SouthernLights (if she does not have previous engagment) will take care of the FRIDAY NIGHT GAME NIGHT TRIVIA ANSWERS/CODE thread.
Due to medical issues I have to part with my beloved ringneck dove Tiki that I have had for 16 years. I am heartbroken over this. We will be taking her to a bird rescue group and it is quite a distance away. And don’t think I will be up to talking when we get back.
I was unable to find a GOOD new home for her myself. Hopefully the rescue group will either find her a good home or she will be able to live out her days with other birds.
And BTW domesticated doves used to only live 5-10 years. They are now finding that many are living up to 20 years and some 25 years.
See you all next week and get lots of Trivia tickets and double tickets on the games!

Was wondering where you were on Friday ?. So sorry to hear about your little dove Tiki…I know how difficult it is to part with a loved pet! What a wonderful thing you did to keep her with you for so many years. I truly hope they place her in a comfortable & loving environment. So glad to hear you can get updates on her. My prayers go out to you and many blessings!!

And once again thanks to my gal pal backups/cohorts ?, ?, and ? for taking care of everyone on the Trivia thread.

Once again, thanks everyone for your prayers and well wishes.
We got Tiki settled in. She will be in quarantine for 6 weeks. They do this in case the bird is sick, and so the illness doesn’t spread to the other birds. She is in a big parrot cage. But she’s also used to flying around a couple rooms in the house. So this will be an adjustment for her. We weren’t allowed in the quarantine room but we did see her thru the window as we left. We didn;t want to go right up to the window and possibly upset her.
She does like other bird sounds like on our bird clock, and there are parrots, parakeets, pidgeons, cockatoos and other birds there so that will help her.
I did call and check on her today, and they said she made it thru the night perfectly fine. They will be taking her out and handling her to make sure she stays socialized. And after 6 weeks she will be able to go into a cage where all the other birds are, so will have lots of company. And visit with people who come through.
Been doing lots of crying and it is very quiet here. We do have a dog, a mini dachshund/chihuahua named Taffy. They were just like kids. Tiki thought Taffy was her personal toy and always just like kids, would poke her, poke her, poke her! Taffy would tolerate it as long as she could then have to do something about it. Like take her paw and hold the bird down. Or jump after the bird and grab her legs (with her lips not her teeth), and feathers would fly. But she never hurt the bird.
Apparently many people have to give up their birds because of allergies. It’s nicknamed “Bird Fanciers Disease” The bird has a protein that goes through the house (even though you cant see it). We probably would never have known but my lungs have been getting worse, breathing worse, and the tests showed more scarring on the lungs than what COPD would do. Thats when the Pulmonary doctor ran allergy tests. Among the birds I am allergic to are doves, parakeets, canaries, parrots, pidgeons, cockatoos, cockatiels etc etc. All the birds we had through the years.
So what happens now is we have to deep clean the house to get rid of this protein that has settled in the curtains, rugs, furniture etc. Then they will run the tests again and see if there is if no differnce at least no worse!
I hope no one here gets any allergies to their pets. They really are our kids!

Just want to let everyone know that Trekky made it home safely. I know this is a very sad time for her. Please keep her in your prayers. Thanks.

Trekky, just wanted to let you know that we are all thinking of you. Hopefully, our thoughts are lifting some of the sorrow. Take care of yourself and remember that your health comes first. You are missed…….
-
Very sorry TREKKY, I will play tonight with you and Tiki in my heart and mind.

Trekky, my sympathy that you must part with such a special friend! I hope the wonderful sixteen years you had together is some consolation, as well as the hope that she’ll find a splendid new home with some of her own kind! I hope that, when and if you’re ready, medical issues will allow you to have some type of pet, because they’re such a comfort. In any case, you’re in my thoughts and prayers for this loss in your family.

Is there a Friday night trivia game – when does it start?
-
What a beautiful little bird! I am so very sad for you, but she will have a good life with the rescue group’s help. Wish I could take care of her for you. I’d make sure you could see her from time to time. I currently take care of a dozen or so squirrels, doves, other birds, and other critters that visit my backyard on a daily basis. I’m praying that when we move next month, someone else with a love for God’s creatures will buy our house and continue to take care of them and love them as I do. These creatures are my greatest concern. May God heal your broken heart and give you comfort in knowing that His eye is on the sparrow and also on your little dove…and you.
