It’s Always Feast or Famine
Have you ever been in the mood to spend money and buy new things, only to find there is nothing you want? Then something like Christmas rolls around and you spend a lot of money on it. . . . THEN the sales start and you want everything you see but you don’t dare keep buying? That’s me. You ever see a grown woman sitting at her computer crying when she gets an alert that one of her items she has been lusting over is marked way down? Welllllll . . .

Pammy I buy Christmas and birthday presents all year long when I see the right thing at a great price for someone on my list. I have that “gift closet.”
I’m disabled and on a limited income so I have to be careful. I really love finding that special thing for someone and I’m pretty good at finding things that the person truely loves. ( I just got my mama’s Mother’s Day present on clerance)
There are always big sales at the end of the year/beginning of the year as well as seasonal clearances and I plan for them in my budget.
My main weakness is jewerly! Sometimes I will plan to be away when Heidi is coming! LOL
It is funny how a bit of bling can brighten a dark day. But I have noticed and though it seemed shallow at first, dressing well makes a big difference on my mood. When I feel awful on the inside I can polish up the outside and it seems to help overall. My Dr.’s always say things like “you look much better on the outside then you do on the inside.”
It is good to go through all your clothes a few times a year-or at least once and purge what you don’t just love or is not serving a major purpose. And have a good list of what is actually needed to complete an outfit etc. I’m also big on wearing what flatters ones’ figure. Dressing well is a little bit of an art and before I had a good mirror I’d fail miserably at times. There are so many great designers on HSN now that think very carefully on flattering average and plus size women. I love that!
Because I love what is in my closet and how it fits, I’m never in want mode searching for something to buy. When something I like pops up at a price I can manage, I discern if it works w/ things I already own; is it a stand alone piece or will it need other new things to finish the look… ?
I have all my “special occasion” pieces that I have bought when on sale even when I did not have anything coming up.
There will always be something fantastic waiting around the corner so I no longer buy pieces that I’m not totally in love with how they look and feel on me.
Soemtimes a designer (like MarlaW.) brings in a color palate that is custom and so wonderful and I crumble and have to buy it. Colors do effect my mood and energy. Sometimes that inner voice just wants me in a cheery color and I have learned to listen and follow directions. :catvery-happy:

Hey Pamlou, I know how you feel. I always seem to forget that HSN has major clearance prices after Christmas. I did purchase a throw back TS from Nellies and I managed two pieces of jewelry. If the jewelry pieces had not been marked down so low they would be sitting in my favorites. LOL There are pieces from Bali, Journeys, and Margo Manhattan sitting in my favorites.:smileyhappy: I need to start a jewelry savings. LOL
